The evil scientist Dr. Neo Cortex and his assistant Dr. Nitros Brio are kidnapping helpless animals and mutating them to serve in his army. However, they all become idiots. One day, they capture a bandicoot named Crash and mutate him in hopes of him leading Cortex's troops, however, like all his experiments, it fails, and Crash escapes. Cortex then brings out his next patient, Crash's girlfriend Tawna. Traversing through three islands, collecting Wumpa fruit and gems, and meeting a friendly shaman mask by the name of Aku-Aku, Crash begins his adventure to save Tawna, and all the creatures of Earth from Dr. Cortex's clutches.

Crash Bandicoot's debut game is one of the best 3D platformers avaliable on the PlayStation. Even with the game's bad save system, dedicated gamers or platformer fans will find this title great. Recommended.

I see in the Cores list for PSX there is two Beetle cores and another PSCX or something. Only the latter would work, beetle would give some failed to load error. Game appears to work, start new game and as the intro plays, crash disappears along with the mask during a scene, then the frame seems stuck, audio plays with some voice dialogue. Then nothing happens.

I tried different video drivers but no luck. Pretty sure this works great with ePSXe but that doesn't seem to be supported by RetroArch? Is it likely a compatiblity problem, bad ROM or even hardware related?(It's running off a mini PC with Intel graphics on Windows 10). Seems fine up until that point. Other games on other consoles work fine, haven't tried any other PSX games yet.
