I have 5 kids, and long drives - especially when stuck in traffic can be a pain, so it's great to keep them entertained. They tend to bring their devices (tablet, iPod, etc) and thanks to this device they can be connected to the internet and stream video, etc to make time fly.
This device enables you to insert a SIM (Standard size, so a Micro or Nano SIM will require an adaptor to fit, but most SIMs come with those anyway now) and then it broadcasts WiFi while connected to the mobile network - so you can carry your WiFi hotspot with you and as long as you have mobile signal you have access. Easy!
It's incredibly easy to set up, insert the SIM, pop the battery in and charge it up - then power on and it's ready! Obviously you'll need the WiFi security key which is printed in the inside of the battery cover, you can change the password to something more memorable if you like (once connected go to http://192.168.8.1/html/index.html on your smartphone or laptop and click 'settings' - default password is 'admin', once in you can change the admin password and the Security Key). The device charges via Micro USB cable (included).
Obviously you'll burn through data if you use this for streaming film, etc, so you'll need a SIM with high data allowance, or unlimited data. But this does work great, my home Broadband speed is only 3.5mbps so if I connect my Smart TV or PS4 to this I actually get quicker connection speeds than with my home Broadband. When I'm working from I also use this rather than my Broadband because my VPN seems more stable over it (presumably because my home Broadband bandwidth is very limited until I get fibre!)
This is 3G only, if you want to utilise 4G then you'll need to pay more for a fancier device, however I find that 3G is perfectly fine for me and even with all 5 kids connected I never max out the bandwidth. I tend to connect my phone to it also because it save my mobile battery (it just has WiFi on rather than mobile data also). This is great for Pokemon Go - the kids can connect to WiFi and they all stay close to me because they know that wandering off will mean they leave the WiFi coverage!
In a nutshell: Fantastic device with great battery life (easily lasts a day of heavy use), an easy and stable way to keep connected to the internet when on the move.
